I also chose the font silom with a stroke point of 8 to maximize the fill and create a bold easy to read type. Since we are focusing on scalability, and simplicity for this draft, I decided to make it very clear, simple, and editable for the final.
For the arrows I thought it was a cool idea to lead the reader to each word, as well as evoking the smile logo that Amazon employs. It also works in a colorless version and can adapt to any color scheme as it is very simple and clear. The adaptability of the piece allows immense creativity, and broad scope of application in various contexts.
The tutorials offered a lot of inspiration, and the pencil and banner ones were the most useful in the creation of this draft.
For the final I will be experimenting with a lot more of the opacity/blending of colors to create a more striking logo. Also, I will focus on what the feedback on the logo is and I will be sure to implement a lot of those suggestions. I purposefully left it simple so it would be very easy to make alterations, and to make it more complete for the final versions. I also will experiment adding more shapes in the background or changing the dimensions of everything to see if something fits the project more ideally.
I took some inspiration from luxury designer brands such as Dior and Chanel’s logos as they are simple, clean, and display that clearly. I also from my initial sketches, realized adding the arrows added a lot to the composition, as it takes the readers on a journey not only to each of the words, but on my journey as well transitioning out of operations to a sales/advertising/marketing role. I think that this draft conveys that message and epitomizes my current situation in my career.
Illustrator was a lot more difficult for me than out last unit, and I look forward to getting better using it in the final draft.

Hi Chase,
I think this is a great first draft for your logo. I like the nod at Amazon with the colors and arrows that are similar, but still different. I think you succeed in your goal of creating a logo that is simple and scalable. I’m a fan of the minimalist style, so I really enjoy the simplicity in this design. I look forward to seeing your experimentation with opacity and blending. I definitely think a bit of contrast and dimension could be interesting and draw the eye without taking away from the overall simplicity. I would try to add some dimension to the arrows and text, and possibly some texture as well.
Thank you,
Sarah

Hi Chase,
I love how simple and scalable your logo is! I’m a big fan of minimalism in logo design and think this design looks very modern. You tied the Amazon look into the logo through the use of bold lines and color, but also kept considerations in mind for a possible colorless logo and design alterations. Personally, I like the design you already have, but I will list out some possible alterations that you can take or leave as needed.
One thing I like to do when looking at logo design is to see if I can guess what the logo is about without initial explanation. In my first impression, without knowing the back story behind the design, I wondered why the arrows split off and pointed towards every word when the progression between words in the logo seems to be linear. My suggestion for this would be to have arrows following the linear progression of the phrase “Ops -> To -> Ads” and incorporate the Amazon smile in a possible circular perimeter. Overall, this is a great first draft and I’m looking forward to seeing what you do for the final project!

Self critique,
Wow, after seeing the work my peers have put in, I am so inspired to increase and redo my logo. I think the critiques are valid, as by design I wanted to keep it simple to make it adjustable based off the feedback I received. I was astounded the logos and designs that my classmates did, and they are so talented, and based off their incredible designs, I have found more resources, to use for my logo. I will begin by changing the overall shape of the design as I now want it to be in a circular shape, that can be used with the arrow design in that I can make it going full circle around the entire design. I also will try to add more shadows to add depth not only to the lettering but the shapes as well. I think that the only thing that will be the same is the color scheme, but even then, I will adjust that by adding more depth and nuance there. This was a super cool project, and I am pumped to make edits for the final design. I also will be watching more tutorials to find cool new tools to use.

Hi Chase!
I think you’re off to a great start with your logo! I like that you utilized the Amazon colors. I also like how it’s minimalist and will allow for editing opportunities depending on what it’s being used for. The use of the arrows is fun in showing your career progression. As for recommendations, perhaps you could experiment with different textures and gradient styles to add dimension while still preserving the overall minimalistic design. I think your use of the Amazon smile was neat, but it wasn’t immediately obvious to me until I read your accompanying post. Now that I see the correlation, I think it’s a neat use, but I do wonder if perhaps there’s another way to convey the smile in a way that someone outside of this class would be able to notice quickly. Will this logo be used within Amazon in any way? Because if not, maybe you could experiment with different colors too! The orange and black look great, but perhaps you could see how other colors might look to sort of represent this new journey you’re going on in your career. Just my two cents, I think it looks great so far!
Thanks,
Elizabeth
